Over the last six decades, Colombia has experienced an armed conflict that has impacted all aspects of life. The Middle Magdalena region and its communities have not been removed from these dynamics of violence that have produced death, exile and human rights violations.
In its twenty years in Colombia, CPT has worked with and accompanied organizations and communities that refuse to abandon their lands and struggle for a dignified life.
Join us for a webinar on July 29th, 6 PM CT. Claudia Machuca from the community of Las Pavas and Erick Payares from El Guayabo will share their experiences as members of communities resisting displacement. CPTer Jhon Camargo will share reflections on the team’s involvement and work for land rights.

Claudia Machuca
A community leader, farmer, and human rights defender from the community of Las Pavas. She leads the community to organise the resistance from the lens of gender equity and build the farming community's food sovereignty program.
Erik Payares
A farmer and human rights defender, and over the last ten years, he has been one of the primary leaders for the farming community of El Guayabo. He also serves as the vice president of Agropegu, a farmers association.
Jhon Camargo
A theologian and graduate of the Mennonite Biblical Seminary of Colombia and member of the Christian Peacemaker Teams- CPT Colombia team.
