April 25, 2021: Putting faith into action

Solidarity with Indigenous Land Defenders and Water Protectors

Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. These words from 1 John are near and dear to CPT. CPT is always discerning what it means to put our faith into action in loving and truthful ways. For the Turtle Island Solidarity Network, passages like 1 John 3:18 draw us into solidarity with Indigenous Land and Water Defenders across the continent.

For Christians, it is important to have worship materials, liturgies, and spiritual practices that draw us into faithful discernment and loving action. So this Easter season, CPT is providing faith communities with worship resources that we hope will foster greater understanding and engagement with Indigenous Land and Water Defense movements.

On April 25, please consider joining us as we respond to calls for support from Water Defenders at Line 3 in Minnesota. We invite Christian leaders across Turtle Island to commit their congregations to a Sunday service of prayer and action. CPT has gathered worship resources from a diversity of traditions and voices that focus on Indigenous-led resistance to Line 3 and ways in which we might respond.

Registrants will receive an invitation to attend a Meet & Greet on Zoom on April 25 at 2 PM Central Time. This will be an opportunity to reflect on the morning’s learnings and insights with other church leaders and members across Turtle Island. The Meet and Greet is a space for the congregations, pastors, and participants to gather.

We encourage faith communities to engage the Love, Truth, and Action resources throughout the year.

CPT Action is an initiative of Community Peacemaker Teams inviting activists, advocates and allies to take action for peace.
